Your eyes deserve the very best care, so why not take a more detailed look at the windows to your world with the latest in eye assessment technology?

At S.W Cotton Eyecare, we are dedicated to delivering clinical excellence, which is why we invested in OCT scanners when the technology first became available.

What is an OCT scan?

An Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scanner uses a special type of light to capture a 3D image of the internal structure of your eye. This allows us to examine key areas and identify early, sight-threatening abnormalities that need medical attention. OCT scans are particularly useful in detecting glaucoma and are primarily used for evaluating macular health.

OCT scans go beyond standard retinal photographs as they reveal what lies beneath the surface. The scans are completely painless and non-intrusive, similar to taking a photograph but offering much more detailed information.

The scanning process takes only a minute, and we can discuss the images with you immediately. We keep a digital record of your OCT scan for future comparisons, allowing us to monitor changes over time.

We recommend an OCT scan especially if you:

  • Are over the age of 60
  • Have particular symptoms
  • Have a family history of macular problems
  • Have an increased risk of glaucoma

OCT scans provide great peace of mind.
